My life, as it happens, as I learn.

Shark in the water

I've been thinking about my life a lot lately. About where it's going, what I'm doing with it now, and wondering if it is all worth it. I wonder how I'm supposed to ever be the person I am destined to become, I wonder who that person is, and how far I am from it. I wonder how this process can even apply to me, because I don't really feel like I am becoming anything...I'm not sure who the real me is or what I'm supposed to be. I know that I am in a point in my life where I can choose exactly who I want to be, I have a new chance to develop myself and my dreams and an opportunity to accomplish all of my goals...but I wonder if I am taking advantage of this opportunity in the right way. When I came to Western, I barely had anyone around me that I knew, it was a very fresh start, but I wonder if I've really done it right. There are so many other things that I realize I want to do, like travel and see the world, and get married and have someone there to support me and just be there for me. I wonder if the roads I have been traveling down are the right ones, and I wonder if they aren't, if it's too late to change my path. I know my path is what defines me, but I also feel my pace on that path and what I look for when I am on it are just as important. I wonder if my goals are all just goals that I want to accomplish myself, or goals that people have told me I need to accomplish. I wonder if I will ever find someone who wants what I want, who matches me and my thoughts, my other half who wants to do everything with me. I wonder if there is someone who understands me, who can help me realize my true desires and drive me to go do them. I wonder if any of my goals, mine or not, will get accomplished. Life in general just seems like such a short time to not do what I want, but then again it feels like such a long time before I can start doing things I want, and I feel that is because society has pressured me and told me what is proper and what is not appropriate for me to do weather I want to or not. I just don't feel like anyone fully understands what I am up against, and how badly and passionately I want certain things. I've thought about all of this for a long time, some of it since I was 9 or 10. I know what I want, but no one else seems to take me seriously, like they don't actually care about what I want. I'm just hoping that I'm not alone in this idea of being stuck in a rut that you don't feel you can get out of, not because it's hard, but you don't think it's time.

The Megan Fox Debate

Okay, so everyone knows who Megan Fox is. If you don't, welcome from the rock you have been living under for at least two years, or perhaps the time machine that you traveled in from the past to see 2009, for some odd reason. Anyway, to get to the point, Megan Fox is undoubtedly the hottest female star in Hollywood right now.

Or is she?

But seriously, is she? Don't get me wrong now, she is beautiful, in general, but I have a few observations that make Megan Fox look like a goddess, or God-forbid *gasp*, average. And here ensues what I like to call, The Megan Fox Debate.

So, you watch Transformers for the first time. Again, you have been sheltered from the world under a rock and so of course, you get moving into pop culture by watching the first Transformers movie. So, you start to watch it, and it's all fine and good, when suddenly, *BAM!*, Megan Fox comes on screen and hits you for the first time. So, here is the breakdown of what guys and girls both think as she walks onto the screen: Guys: Wow, she's hot. Girls: Wow, what is wrong with her make-up?

Just to clarify something very quickly...Girls are the only creatures that can sense and observe another girls attractiveness without actually being attracted to her. Girls know when other girls are pretty. It's really more of a simple observation for us, as opposed to an evaluation of their looks. We look, observe the attractiveness, then report, we don't intimately take in every part, decide she is hot, and then think of things we want to do to her. So, when a girl with the large scale attractive factor like Megan Fox has comes around, girls already know she is attractive the moment she steps into light. We don't really discuss it, because Megan Fox is so hot, by both guy and girl standards, that girls automatically take points off their appearance without really thinking about it. Then, they proceed to find flaws with that girl so they can put those points back on their attractive table. Also, her make-up does take a second to get used to.

Okay, so the Megan Fox moment arrives, and continues throughout the movie. Each time she is on screen, it almost seems like she gets more attractive. Hardly a scene goes by where she isn't running around being completely useless (I may be drifting into the second movie here a bit...) and every guy is thinking two things: 1. She is perfect, and, 2. I must Google her. Verb this adjective noun (i.e. Google this lovely woman, or whatever dirtier things popped into all guys minds thinking of her pictures and background info.)

Okay, so here is of course another observation, but this one gentlemen, isn't a good one. If you aren't paying attention carefully, you might miss it. It is a very awkward shot in the movie, and usually you ignore the front focus since the camera doesn't outright focus on it that much...but when she is in the tow truck, getting ready to cart around Bumblebee like a dog in a radio flyer, she grips the steering wheel and huge truckloads of emotion spill out everywhere, but more importantly, her thumbs are right in the shot.

Basically, she has creepy toe-thumbs. It's kind of shocking when you first see it...you're like, "did I really just see....OH GOD!" But yes, they are there, and they are scary. You wonder for a minute how someone so perfect and possessing what some can only call God-given beauty can have such an atrocious physical flaw. It proves two things, 1. Everyone, and I mean everyone, has a flaw, and 2. God has a sense of humor. Now, you may watch this and then think I am crazy, but seriously, Google the words "Megan Fox" and "thumbs" together in some variation, and you will see I am not the first one to notice it.

Again though, for all of you stricken teenage boys out there who refuse to believe a word I am saying, I will do some more clarifying. I am not saying she is ugly, by any stretch of the imagination. I am not blind, or retarded. I know that she is gorgeous...but only so much beautiful when she is in Transformers. In other things, like How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, she is only very pretty, as opposed to mind-blowingly-supermegasexyawesomehot. Also, in photo-shoots, she never quite looks as good as she does in movies. In fact, sometimes she doesn't look like Megan Fox at all, or at least the stunningly beautiful girl who was in Transformers. She sometimes looks like a totally different, but pretty, girl. It might just be the way the make-up artist did her make-up in the Transformer movies, to which all I can say is, why the hell doesn't she just have those make-up artists follow her around everywhere? SHe has got to be ultra-rich by now with all of the success of the Transformer movies and the interviews and photo-shoots and other movies like Jennifer's Body. But whatever, I'm not even going to pretend like I know what Hollywood is like and how things work there.

But, what is the strangest thing about her, which is why I have the debate with myself all the time whether I like her or not, is the way that people obsess over her. I am not denying that by writing this blog I am currently bringing even more obsession to the table, but seriously. The way that people freak out over stuff she is doing, is not doing, is saying, has said, it's a little ridiculous. And at some point, these things go to your head as a superstar, and this is where I can't decide if I respect her or not. I saw a brief glimpse of an interview with her on David Letterman, and a few articles in other magazines, and my first impression was that she seemed a little self-absorbed, pushy, and ditzy. However, she admitted in an interview she did with Cosmo that she sometimes "makes things up" when doing interviews (but assured Cosmo that since she respected them and loved the magazine, she wasn't lying)...which would explain a lot of the contradicting phrases she has been called out on. And I watched her when she appeared on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien, and she seemed a lot more upfront and honest about things, and also funny and charming. She admitted to having a huge crush on Conan since she had grown up watching his Late Show program, so maybe that had something to do with it, if she likes the source, she wont put on a charade. On some level, she has got to get bored with people telling her she is hot, and asking her all of these really lame and very personal questions, so she wants to make it different and entertaining for herself, so she switches stuff up once in awhile. On the other hand, it does get her even more attention when she says things that don't make sense/copndratict other things that she has said. But I have to say, seeing her in what I really hope is her "normal" or "comfortable" zone of herself, when being interviewed by Cosmo or Conan, I did agree with some of her views on love, such as it shouldn't have any rules since people are all different. If that wasn't really her shining personality coming through, well, things just get even more intriguing, don't they?

I don't know. Megan Fox is going to be around for awhile, since her career is just beginning to bloom, I have determined the somewhat disappointing conclusion that it is still too early to make full judgments on her character at this point, and as for her looks, well I think I've covered that one pretty thoroughly. Either way, I have a feeling the so-called "Megan Fox Debate" is long from over...in everybody's mind.

Here We Go

So, here I am, along for the ride yet again. Another year of college to begin, more of my life to progress and new things to learn and experience. Time certainly flies.

Looking back on who I was before college began, I hardly know who that person was anymore. It's a good thing, a very good thing. Because I've learned a lot about life and how it can surprise you, and how I have changed and grown, but also how some of my traits are ones that I should never lose. I have learned to embrace my flaws and overcome obstacles that I have been thwarted by before. It's a very empowering feeling looking into the future without fear, but only with excitement for what will happen next.

So, here we go, riding off into the sunset. Well, more likely the sunrise...
